This amazing necklace is handmade from hand painted fair trade ceramic beads. Ceramic clay balls once rolled by hand are fired in a kiln at 1200 degree celcius to make a durable "hard stone" bead. The bead is then hand painted using ceramic colours then glazed in a kiln at between 800 to 1000 degree celcius to bring out the beautiful colours.

The clay used to make these beads is responsibly mined from the foot of Africa's second tallest volcanic mountain - Mt. Kenya. It has been produced as a result of millions of years of geological activity around the mountain.
